Now is greater than the whole of the past
I was in lab until 6 pm today. I like having a lab key, but not having the need for one. Christ. Having to work longer days than the grad students is a grave injustice.
I haven't started listening to Amnesiac yet. I'm still working my way through the new REM CD. I can really only handle one new album a day. I hope it's good ( Read more... )

Try Robert Jordan. He's the man with the eye for details. Not one detail. Not three details. Not eleventy godzillion details. ALL the details.
[the link above is slightly out of date. Jordan has released 9 books in the Wheel of Time series with the latest being Winter's Heart.] On a funny note, Robert Jordan used to write under the pseudonym Reagan O'Neil. Reagan O'Neil wrote some Conan novels. It just so happens that Conan is part of the HPL Mythos. He's a good writer.
He writes the Wheel of Time series. Yes, that link is to the game, but I'm sure you can find info about the books off of it. Absolutely fantastic series. I'm not sure if it's quite your style, but you ought to check it out nonetheless. At least read The Eye of the World. It's a good read whether you like fantasy or not.
If you're still in the mood for something dark, read Neuromancer. Quite aptly called the Bible of Cyberpunk. It's dark and infinitely cool ( ... )
