Dogs and vet care

Dolly is going blind. She is bumping into things and unable to see things right in front of her. We took her to the vet, to get her a physical and to see if she has cataracts or if the thyroid meds are causing blindness. No cataracts, and no connection between meds/blindness. It cost us $75 to hear this. He suggested we go to see a dog ( Read more... )

Thank you. I feel so bad. She follows me around and is constantly getting stepped on, having the fridge door whack her head, etc, because she can't see. It's so sad. She'll eventually get used to getting around with her hearing and smell, but she's not there yet. I think she can still see things that are far away and if it's light enough in the room. Poor dog.

I took Rosie to the vet today, and she just has a bad ear infection. I asked the doc again about Dolly, and Will did not give me all the information as it turns out. Her blindness might be a retinal problem that isn't necessarily surgical. SO, I'm going to save a little money to take her to the specialist and at least get her opinion.
