I've made some progress on Verum in the past few days, working on the blue upholstery, trying to capture the shimmer and shadow.

One or two more passes should do it, and then I will turn my attention to the cobra.

Thank you! It's a combination of four different blues, layered and carefully blended. Some of these blues are transparent, which lends some luminosity and depth to the colour. It's a technique I steal from the renaissance painters, especially Titian. He was a master of layering transparent oil paint to achieve luminous colour effects, primarily when rendering flesh, infusing it with life and warmth.
