MARRIED! And now...

Kids?  Heh, we're going over possible names for offspring.  Here's what we've got so far:

Male
Female Marcus  Charlotte Quinn  Bianca Timothy  Alexandra Alexander  Danielle
So, what do you all think?  Mind you, these are first names.

Congrats. I love thinking of names, even though I'm not having my own kids. I really like solid traditional names, or names that reflect family heritage. I haven't seen a girl named Charlotte in a while, but I like that one!

...but Charlotte has always meant nothing but good things to me, probably, in all honesty, due to Charlotte's Web. :-)

Congratulations! Of the ones you posted, I like Charlotte, and Alex (for a boy or a girl).

Char and Alex... aldous November 14 2008, 23:26:43 UTC
Well, interestingly, Charlotte is my personal favorite for a female name, and Alexander (Alex) is my wife, Becky's, favorite for a male name (and a close contender for her favorite female one).

Hey, great to see you here again! I really like the name Charlotte, and I've never met one, which is cool. Danielle is surprisingly common these days (at one point we had three at my place of work; we're down to two). I like the name Quinn for a boy. Good Irish name. :-) Along those same lines, I like the name Kellan a lot. I've known a few Marcuses, a bunch of Alexanders, and some Timothys, including my brother. But they're good names nonetheless. :-)

The thing with Danielle (and one that I didn't list here, "Gabrielle") is that Becky (my new bride) loves the sound of "elle" ending a female name. I can't fault her on that one bit. I was quick to point out that "Gabrielle" has the unfortunate common nickname of "Gabby", which is why it didn't make this list.

Kellan is interesting - what does it mean?

Sorry it took me awhile to get back to you on this... I didn't know what it meant; it was just always a good Irish name, to me. I looked it up, it means "slender", which is kinda boring. ;-) Apparently it's more often spelled Kellen in its Gaelic origin.

I like the name Gabrielle a lot, but I, too, would cringe at the "Gabby" nickname. My niece's name is Kianna, which seemed appallingly pretentious to me, but I call her Kiki, which I really like.

We're actually reconsidering "Gabrielle" as a name, as we like one of the short versins, "Bree". Hmmm.

Congrats!

You aren't kidding! When I first started using LJ in 2000 (just a month away from being considered a founding member - rats!), I used it virtually daily. I think I'm going to start getting back into it - yet another reason I changed my journal format. It seemed to need some freshening up.

Wow, you've definitely changed! First getting married, now talking about kids- both things you said you did not want to do! But hey. I like Quinn, Charlotte and Bianca.
Dan & I plan on having munchkins in a few years as well. :)

Congratulations again on getting married!

It is something, isn't it? I think it took a long time to rid myself of the emotional poison that I had built up around the concept of marriage, thanks to my first one (1990 - 2000). And the no-kids thing was built around two concepts: a) as I had no intention of getting married before, I certainly didn't want to complicate a potential child's life with the broken-household concept, and b) I did (and still) worry over the planet's overpopulation issues. That's why Becky and I will be having at most two children - one to replace us each, AT MOST. Perhaps we'll wind up with just one, in which case, that will help reduce our contribution to the population burden this planet suffers from.

Quinn's a longtime favorite of mine. Marcus is my favoritest, though! :-)
