I can honestly say I've never really lost someone close to me before. Everyone in my immediate family that I actually have ever cared about is still alive, and sadly I usually end up mourning lost celebrities; people I only saw on television or the movies that I felt I grew up with, but never had a personal relationship with. I've been thinking about him a lot lately... Prior to having found out earlier today. I found a poem he wrote for me on one of the many nights we all spent at VI... It was very spontaneous and surprising but it touched my heart when I came across it just as much as it did then. He always managed to make people feel special without ever realizing just how special he was himself.

I'm proud to say that I knew him. I feel honored to have been his friend.

Megan's right...you did say it best. You know, it was always easy to forget that he was sick because he never acted that way. Not very eloquent so I'll stop there, but thanks for the memories Val.
