I hate school...

...which is funny, because half of my classes are really damn cool, 2/3s of the other half are decent, and the last one is just boring. And yet, my life is basically my thesis. Despite all my angst over my topic and indecision over topics (I might have sorta switched again this week...), I love all the reading I am doing and how much I am starting ( Read more... )

to those who show up, and to those who persevere to a goal when it is more interesting to do something else. I can sympathize. I found classes, both the ones I took and the ones I taught, to be a distraction (albeit necessary and worth their own effort) when I was working on my master's thesis and doctoral dissertation. It was much more fun to sit at home, surrounded by books, all of which were of great interest to me, and indulge in intellectual immersion. I'm pleased that you have bought into the learning process that is writing a thesis, and that you are being pushed intellectually. These core skills will do you well in life. And they will help you produce excellent, honed 5 - 6 page papers in your life work. mom

Betcha my motivation level is even lower than yours right now. I seriously skipped classes yesterday to study for an exam today, and then didn't start studying for the exam until 7am today. Bombed the exam (not multiple choice, thank you very much). What did I do yesterday that precluded my studying? A whole bunch of nothing. I made a playlist to study to, I played with my roommate's 5-pound weights, I got up 30 times to eat a cookie or pour some juice, I started cleaning my room but didn't get very far. All freaking day. Nothing at all. This semester is the most useless pos ever.

I'm glad you're enjoying your thesis research. That's important, and definitely a good reason to write a thesis.
