Title: Perfect Moment
Characters: Harry & Hermione
Rating: PG
Summary: A two version fic about the dancing scene from DH. This has ending #1
Notes: I wanna thank Papergirl from fanforum for beta both fics :)

Harry comes into the tent and takes a seat; Hermione looks pretty sad as she listens to the radio. It kills him seeing her like this and he can’t help but wish she didn’t have feelings for Ron. If she hadn’t had feelings for him she wouldn’t be like this, now that he’s gone.

The radio is not broadcasting its usual bulletin of deaths - it’s a rather sweet song and an idea comes up into Harry’s mind.

He gets up and walks toward her … he doesn’t really know if he should ask her or just go for it. In the end he puts his hand forward, silently asking her for a dance. She looks up at his hand, unsure if she should take up on his offer or not.

She takes his hand and he helps her get up. Before they start to dance Harry remembers she’s wearing the locket. Very gently he takes it off her neck and tosses it on the bed.

The moment he touches her neck, a shiver goes down both of their spines even though neither has wanted to give it its proper meaning.

Slowly, he brings her to the middle of the tent and, tentatively, they start to dance. He is still unable to properly dance, but he doesn’t really care. In this moment, it doesn’t matter.

In this moment there is no forest, there’s no tent, there’s no Ron-shaped hole in both their hearts, there’s no Ginny pining for Harry, there’s no Voldemort, there’s no hiding, no Horcruxes.

This moment is just about Harry and Hermione. Two teenagers who have been through more pain and hardship than anyone else they know. They’re just trying to find a small moment of happiness to hold on to in the ugliness that surrounds them.

The dance is a perfect combination of fast and slow moments. A perfect balance of sadness and happiness. It is the perfect recipe to set their friendship on fire.

Hermione is no longer fighting the smiles on her face. She’s having fun and she can’t deny that only Harry can manage to light her up in times of darkness in these moments.

She holds on to him, not really wanting to let go and he does the same. They sway until the music ends, and with it so does their perfect moment.

He is hypnotized by her lips and for a fraction of a second he thinks about kissing he, but then the moment is gone.

The forest is back, and so are the tent, and Voldemort and the Horcruxes.

More importantly so are Ron’s and Ginny’s faces.

And for the smallest second he wishes he didn’t give a rat’s arse about all of that so he could kiss her but he knows he can’t.

He watches Hermione sit down, welcoming back the pain and the darkness inside of her and he is just thankful that he has managed to lift her spirit, if only for a few minutes.

I'm a sucker for comments ;)
