Merlin figures out/accidentally spells himself some form of telepathy or telempathy and hijinks ensue. (my favorite trope in this fandom tends to be pining!Arthur and oblivious!Merlin, with a bit of denying/jealous/possessive!Arthur for good measure, so any scenario where that can be incorporated it would be cool!)

also, i see all these modern!AUs and some Merlin-time-travel ones, and it makes me wonder--what would happen if the boys (or the girls, or all four of them) popped up in a modern setting? (blame some magic device+accidental spell.) would they all immediately look at Merlin? not realize that he's magic without him confessing and freaking out? how long before they figure out how to get back? what would they discover first and what would they remember? etc etc.

Oh, I am absolutely writing that into my epic!fic. It fits really well with the relationship between them anyway.

It might go in something else sooner than that too, because it's very cute.

Merlin has to lick Arthur's spine. I'm sure there's a sensible, potentially canonical reason in there somewhere.

Scenario: Merlin's father is involved somehow. (Traditionally Merlin's father is an incubus, but the canon's all shot to hell anyway, so you could make him anything)
