I have succeeded once and failed twice (once only by a bit, once - last year - gigantically). I hoping that it will give me the motivation to write every day again. I need to be more deliberate about making the time, not putting it off because I'm lazy. I want to remember the joy!
I was thinking of doing a version of NaNo, just working insanely on one or more of my many unfinished WiPs of original fic. I might post some of my novel that I previously posted on my LJ...that's been languishing for more years than I care to think about. Argh. I'm hoping I can use NaNo as an excuse to really kickstart it back into action again.
Good luck with your NaNo!! I do get email notices of your posts, so I can try to read when you post, but I'm not sure I'll always be able to.
I think it helps to post stuff even if you don't have a lot of readers, because it's amazing how seeing it in a different format can make you see things about the story you didn't when you were writing it. Plus I think it feels good to see your own progress.
I'm hoping I can use NaNo as an excuse to really kickstart it back into action again Good luck with that! I am definitely happy to cheer you along with that aim. Are you going to post what you are writing, or post wordcounts or anything?
Thank you! I think I might post word count updates--that might help keep me in line. And then I might post some stuff when it's all over, depending upon what I've written.
I doubt that I will finish something over the course of November (I've never managed that!) but that I might get a good solid chunk of a first draft done.
I'm glad to hear you are doing it again this year. I have fond memories of reading your nanos a few years ago. Are you posting anywhere as you go or keeping them for tidying and publishing afterwards?
I'm (selfishly) sorry to hear that because I've always enjoyed seeing the evolution of the story, but no doubt I will read it in a shiny downloaded version at some point after its published.
It does absolutely, I think that's most of the fun. I also find that I end up writing things I wouldn't have written in other conditions - and sometimes they work!
Well then I will cheer you on. We can do it together if you want, I usually need a bit of bullying in the middle somewhere. I'm also happy if you want to rant about how awful it is, or try out ideas and discuss them or anything. I think talking about writing it keeps you going.

Of course, cheering comments always help. :)

I'm NaNoing again. I have a main character. With a name. And a setting. That's enough, to write a first scene at least.

NaNo turns into this odd kind of shared madness, doesn't it?
