Awsm fangirl memories
Brief recount (since this is mainly photos) of the Vampire Diaries 2: Return to Mystic Falls Sydney Convention that happened over the weekend.
Things you need to know: The cast, particularly the guys are a hoot! (I feel a bit sorry for Malese being the only female guest at this event!) Steven and Nate clearly have a bromance going on and David's not afraid to get in there and throw some digs too! I also think Steven may have had too much Red Bull because he was INSANE! This was the first con I went to where guests were so free in hanging around with the crowd. Steven and Nate were sitting in on the panels and pretty much running around with the microphone for the questions (usually the staff does that and mods the questions) so things were pretty crazy! That and they kept goofing off. Nate was also walking around hugging everyone and also grabbing phones off girls while they were on them and chatting to whoever was on the line. Hilarious! I'm jealous of anyone going to the London con because I'm sure you guys will be in for a treat provided the bromance is still happening! And while I thought this con was crazy, it sounds like the Melbourne event was even CRAZIER if that's possible, considering the guys decided to re-enact out the Entertainment Weekly cover shoot. Yep, I've seen the pics and I'm not ashamed to admit Melbourne does it better!
So Steven's photo line was super long. I think this might be because he was either having mini conversations with everyone or serenading them. What a charmer. So while photos were happening, some eps were playing and one of them was the ball one, at which point Nate enters the room and dances with a lucky fan as the characters dance on screen. Then after that, he sits on the edge of the stage and gives us a bit of bts commentary. Nate is awesome.
And at some point Steven snuck in:
First talk of the day was David's where he talked about taking the role because Ian's a buddy of his, trying to do an Aussie accent but failing, playing the bad guy. During this time you had Nate and Steven running around the auditorium with microphones going up to fans who wanted to ask questions. (Or in Steven's case, pulling the microphone away as the fans were trying to ask questions or interrupting. LOL) Steven also constantly asked David about "Equinox".
Then it was lunch and after lunch was Malese's talk. Unfortunately no crazy boys running around during Malese's talk. I think they might have went out. During Malese's talk she talked about the fart incident while shooting Jeremy and Anna's first time, we might see a record released from her (yay!), which then prompted calls for her to sing so she sung a bit of One Direction (after turning down Call Me Maybe lol), said her two favourite things are to shop and eat (soul sisters!), Steven's the biggest prankster, she's returning to Big Time Rush, career wise she admires Anne Hathaway in the way she transitioned from Disney films and is now doing all these awesome roles, Steven teases her about her role in The Social Network since Malese is a good girl in RL, she talked about differences doing TV and film and also how she got the role of Anna. (It involves a callback when she was hiking.)
After Malese's talk was Nate's. David was around passing the mic for some of Nate's talk before disappearing and leaving Steven to moderate the whole thing. Steven also escorted Nate on stage. There was also a lot of Steven hi-jacking Nate's panel. LOL. Nate talked about fellow Aussie actor buddies - his best mate is Brenton Thwaites (Stu from Home and Away!) and they built Ikea furniture together (badly) during hard times, when he was asked if his life was turned into a movie who would play him, he said Leo DiCaprio or Andrew Garfield, to which I impulsively fistpumped the air and let out a loud squeal. Oops. He talked about the bat scene and how he nearly killed Ian Somerhalder when the bat snapped in half, hence that cap of Steven's reaction that's floating around. He also talked about how he doesn't get star struck by actors (although he did meet Johnny Depp recently) but gets star struck meeting NRL players. He's also all for Kol getting a love interest (yes Kol will be in S4 \O/) and wouldn't mind seeing a Kol/Elena hookup. If he got to write the ending of TVD, you can picture Elena and Kol riding off into the sunset.
After Nate's talk there was an auction for some drawings of cows that Nate and Steven drew.
Then there was Steven's talk, which is a blur because it was pretty crazy and I'm sure I was laughing so hard and that's why my memory's fuzzy. I do remember Nate announcing "Here's Steven McQueen bought to you by Red Bull" or something like that. He was very hyper. LOL "I'M HAVING A GOOD DAY!" (joke in reference to a comment Nate made about how to speak American.)
And then here are some pics from when Steven (and Nate) were drawing on the T-shirt that was being auctioned off for charity.
Such an awesome event! Definitely the best Aussie con I've been to!
