iPod shuffle question

I know some of you guys have this, so a question. Dh's birthday is in a week, and I am out of ideas. I am tempted just to give a gift certificate (returning the favor) but part of me wants to be a bigger person and not to perpetuate the lameness. So I am considering the shuffle, but does it make sense if Dh already has iPod mini. He loves that

Does he currently run with the iPod mini and/or is he happy running with the iPod mini? If he's happy running with the iPod mini, I don't see a real reason to get the Shuffle. I personally didn't want to run with the iPod, which is why I wanted the Shuffle. The Shuffle is definitely easier to run with in my opinion. It also seems the the Shuffle is more robust (i.e., if it dropped, it probably wouldn't brake - which wouldn't necessarily be the case for an iPod). Anyway, we have both (well, and iPod and a Shuffle), and I don't think it's overkill :)

Does he use flash memory key chains? The Shuffle can do double duty in that regard.

I have some friends who have both, and they like using the Shuffle for activities like running or working out, since it uses the flash memory instead of having (being?) a hard drive that could get damaged. I think it seems like a good gift.
