This is ridiculous. I dont know about anyone else, but if you give a damn about where this country is going or what we have to look forward to then I strongly urge you to take a look at this post by a friend of mine. You dont like what he has to say, thats your choice but as I see it we the american people are getting ass-raped by our president ( Read more... )

I would argue the Wookie's point that Dubya did it all by himself. The bill was passed... by Congress. That means enough people were behind it to make it pass.

Do you think, perhaps, that it is possible that there is more to the verbage of the bill that isn't so extreme? Untill one actually sees the write up and full context of the bill, it's impossible to make an educated judgment, in my never very humble opinion.

While I can totally agree with you that it was not just the president who performed this action (in fact I have listed every guilty part from the state in my post so as to make it clear that its not all on his shoulders. However, as the president he has the responsability to check and balance things...which by passing this bill into law, he failed to do in my eyes ( ... )

You know me... I'm not usually for ANYTHING that limits the rights of the people. Anytyhing that takes away liberties is a bad thing. I'm for small government and less regulation and legislation, not more. Thus, I don't like the idea.

But then... the supreme court is more scary by far, IMO, than the legislative and executive branches combined. Did you know that they ruled that imanent domain can apply to comercial ventures? As in... Hotel A wants to drop a buliding on your land 'cause you have a nice view. As long as they can prove that the hotel will generate ANY revenue for the local economy, they can use imanent domain to MAKE you sell your land.

Scary, huh? And there's NO ONE to stop them... no one...

Nice to see that the golden rule still stands, eh?

While I do not agree with the supreme court ruling at least if it was to happen, you have some sort of legal recourse to try and fight the process. You arent loosing "everything" in one fell swoop.

You lose your house, you go buy a new one and get over it, or you appeal and fight the decision in a court of law.

With this new bill that was signed into law they have basically sanctioned the removal of anyone who is opposed to the current way in which this country is being run. Its not a lose your house go live somewhere else...its your existance being erased. Not that it couldnt happen before...but now it can happen legally.

Your comparing the supreme courts decision to allow theivery as being more scary then the legislative and executive branches decision which basically sanctions murder. If I have to pick between the two...take my house, at least Im still alive. (Not that I agree with either, but If I am reading what you are saying correctly then I strong urge you to rethink your position that the supreme court is far more
