They're adding feats to the feats: they call 'em subfeats.
For instance, you've got improved cleave now, right? This will add improved cleave:broadsword. Now, not only do you get the benefits of the improved cleave feat, but when you're equipped with a broadsword, you get a nifty "swoosh" sound effect too!
The online component is to help ensure that people are using only quality controlled WOTC materials. It does this by randomly generating a code on the cover of each book, which must be input to a webpage online; only if the key is properly verified will the book be readable. In addition, the (required) miniatures will each come with a USB connector that you can use to verify their authenticity as well; this will only be required once a week, however.
I hear they're already at work on the service pack.
EH, I'm gonna wait another 4 months for edition 4.5. I hear they're bringing back THAC0!!
2 editions(not counting Chainmail, Basic and Expert) over 23 years, 3 editions over 7, that means that we should have another 4 over the next 2.4 years, approximately of course ;-)
