A couple days ago I got in touch with (wonder of wonders) Elias Andrews, the Swedish kid who my grandma used to babysit the same time as me. Ca-razy. I mean, REALLY crazy. you should listen to the band amorphis...they are finnish i think, maybe norwegian, but they have a really good album called "tuonella" that is about some of that stuff, and some other good albums too that i can't remember right now...you should be able to find plenty info aboot em on the intranet. on congrats on divesting yourself of that fashion-scammer.

Anyway, she talks about the Sami people ALL THE TIME. We actually watched a music video in "sami"--actually, it was in 'yoik' which is their weird chanting stuff.

Did you know they have 1283102 different ways to refer to reindeer? Weird, eh?

I bet you'd like that Sami music video. My norweigan teacher is trying to upload that and her crazy norweigan commercials up to the U of U server,s o maybe I acn send it to you. You'd probably like.

I'm sure if I lived there, I'd probably feel like it was a rural backwater full of country yokels...my hometown is like that. But I really would love to go there! oooh I want to go backpacking in the Finnmark sooo bad. Like, lapland. SO BAD. in the tundra! For like four weeks, eating nothing but rice and tea and...pinecones! Oh, and after it's all over, I want to go to the sauna with hot, androgynous Finnish boys and do all the things that would (naturally) occur as a result.

I guess I have a sort of Finnfetish or something.

well i actually ment that finland is so "cool and modern" these days. "little America", some people say. lapland is mysterious in it's own unique way, but the rest of the country..

hot sauna with hot finnish boys. yeah, that's actually pretty nice. :D hopefully your dreams will come true!
