Ooh, I really enjoyed this. I dig your explanation for how Fidelias got his name, and Fideliar Demetrius feels like he belongs in canon.
There's a lovely duality to the story--we don't know if Fidelias is telling the truth or not. If he's not, it's a delicious snub of Lady Aquitaine, as the similarities between Fidelius and Amara's struggles are so patently obvious. If it *is* true, it makes intriguing implications about Fidelias' feelings toward Amara, if he would subject her to the same trial--a trial the traitor LOST.
