Yay! 15th anniversary live, finally something laruku to obsess about.
I downloaded, I watched, and I almost fell over when they started to play White Feathers! I was driving home today and listening to Tierra, one of my favorite albums in existence because I love every song, and it struck me that White Feathers is that much better than the other tracks on the album. It's just so well put together...just everything fits together perfectly. White Feathers and As if In a Dream together are, to me, what makes L'Arc magnificent. There's something almost unearthly about them that makes you abandon material thought, immersed in pure music. Of all their subsequent output, I can only think of a couple songs that come close (niji, ibara no namida) though something of that "epic" quality is still missing. There's no way I'm knocking on all the other gems they've go in their repertoire. If a band's only got 7 minute long epics, that's a bit pretentious. The reason for all the love they receive is because they've got personality and variety (there's the answer to your question hyde). I was so happy about Voice, I'm in Pain, and Dune. Indies songs! Finally, they acknowledge their roots! Thanks for the love you give us too :)
I can honestly say this band changed my life. The first of their works that I ever got was Heavenly Films and I used to come home from school, pop in this video and sit there mesmerized. It was something that made me at happy at a very dark point in my life. I was always able to empathize with their music no matter what kind of song it was. That kind of appeal carried them far and hopefully farther yet.
