I don't know what all I'll put here, or how often, but I thought I'd start with this: I belong to
Faith Hunter's (faithhunter) Enclave group. Although it's not the primary focus of the group (which is Faith's wonderful books Bloodring and Seraphs, books you should read if you like dark fantasy) a number of members of the group write poetry. They ( Read more... )

I love your poem. It's very successful at evoking a dark mood. Interestingly enough, I'm writing a fantasy novel in which the protagonist is sentenced to imprisonment in a magical "void space," where there is only dark nothingness. Your poem could be describing that very thing. I'm sure you had other things in mind when you were writing it, though. :)

How do you like Faith Hunter's Enclave group? I am a member of Kelley Armstrong's Otherworld Critique group, but I'm looking for more feedback.

Thanks for your comments! Yes, I was thinking of other things, but it sounds like your void space could very much fit the feeling I had in mind. I love that you made that connection with it! :)

I really like the Enclave. We talk, of course, about Faith's books, but also about a lot of stuff that is completely off that topic. It's still a small enough group that the random chatter is fun, not overwhelming, and there's a lot of support there. From something you posted about Kelley's Critique group, I'm thinking this is more of a writing advice/suggestion/critique (obviously critique) group. That's not really what the Enclave is. We talk about Faith's writing, she answers some writing questons, and a few folks post poems or short pieces from time to time, but there's no real writing crticism in the sense in which I think you mean it. That was sort of rambling, but maybe it answers your question. You could also ask Faith of course!

I love the earth mother.
She is wonderful. And she fits with the poetry, which is grand!
