Work Today

Where do I begin? Ha...it was really a .

First off, currently, I'm creating reports in Excel reporting the productivity numbers. I'm also working creating an error report as well.

Overall, I'm happy doing this. Getting excel to jump thru hoops. I just need to figure out how to get it to COUNT me. (any excel gurus.. I want to know how to get excel to tell me how many cells have the word "red" in it...so I can eventually graph it. I can tell it I have 5 reds and have it graph compared the the other amounts to colors...but I have to enter each individual instance of color...)

ok, anyway. Aside from that, it's mildly irriating dealing with people's error and shift reports. People can't remember to put their name, or project (one day we were in FOUR different ones) or date. They can't even be trust to have the date RIGHT. I mean, who mistakes june for September? or December?! In the Middle of JUNE! they can't tell me what month. so, ok I research the glaring wrong dates. I try not to think about what if they have the day wrong....Overall, i think I'm dealing with people fooblies better then I used to. I remember having more stress 2004, during the election. I was qcing at the time. that's hell.

Ok, so this is the same place that has the policy of informing people they've time is approved the last day before it.

This is the same place that has the car alarm security system. You have to badge at nearly every door. (no not at the bathrooms yet...) And if you forget, no worries, the door is unlocked but the alarm goes off when it's opened without badge. Hence the 'car alarm' everyone's pretty numb to the alarms nowadays.

And this is also the place, that a basic person can not go to their manager. Hell, the supervisor is hard to track down, and she's got a mobile! I mean in a emergency, sure they can leave the building. Or fetch a management type. But if you have something private...your coworker is annoying you, or HR issue, who wants to open the car alarm door to track a manager down????

guess it cuts down on the snitching.

And forget the phone. there was a couple times I called in and came in the next day and was asked by the owner of the voice mail I left a message on, where I was.

But wait, there's a punchline to all of this.

One more thing, I haven't mentioned the drive by HR person we have. We don't have a full time hr person to bring things up. We share her with other branches of the main company. or really can't help us, other then telling us to call CA, where the corp HR office is.

Ok punchline.

So I'm sitting in a office. Not mine, I share it with the 2nd shift manager. doing my work. My boss, and most people's manager walks in and starts ranting at me about the frustrating one on one meeting she was doing. We do have people simply not doing their work, who aren't even accomplishing half of the rest of their coworkers. But manager continues by complaining that people aren't telling her things. Like how the program they are using is crashing and preventing them from doing work. Or worse, is trying to do their work and getting it wrong, thus making them do more work to undo the wrong things.

I just hid my face at that. My MANAGER. The one that can't be bother to Schedule anything. The one that SAID a couple times she had to talk to me that DAY but the end of day came and went. The one that runs around and tells them time off it approved, at the last minute.

I did manage to hold my tongue, cause I DIDN'T say "Why? you don't communicate to us." I managed to say a more mild "Communication is a two way street."

There that's the big joke that is my work. 12 buisness days and counting.

darn I wanted the silly hat icon, but nemo's pelican suits as well.
