So, look at this people! I managed to post the fanfic debate the day I said I would! It's amazing and I honestly have never been more shocked in my life
( Read more... )
Okay, there are obviously things I agree with you about, and other things I'm not so sure about, but given the way writing and characters is often interpreted differently by various people, that's hardly unusual
( ... )
lmao regarding the last line or so. Made me giggle.
It is pretty amazing, given the things out there that I know I read quite regularly, that Frayach is able to shock her readers, but I think it's also the sign of a really good writer so I'm comfortable with it
( ... )
Oh yes, I agree Jennings seemed like a lovely man, and I'm sure he does mean well at heart. He had a family (from what I recall), and I'm sure he's the devoted father, loving husband type. It's only when he gets to work and has to deal with prisoners that he scares me, but that's quite reminiscent of German soldiers during Nazi Germany when they would spend all day dealing with the Jews and forcing them into gas chambers before going home to their loving families every night. Fray really emphasises how war changes people with Jennings, I think. :)
Err, I hope you don't run towards the height (if you're on top of a tall building, for example) *g* Hmm... if you like these sort of fic dicussions, perhaps you're more Ravenclaw? *hugs*
Ha! As to regards of your first paragraph about the parallels between Jennings and the Nazi's ... oh my God. I never once thought about that and I just sat a goddamn exam about the bloody Nazi's. I feel like quite the idiot :).
Gosh, I should hope I don't run towards the height. Except you know now that you've given me the idea *drums fingers thoughtfully*. Heh, see what happens when you're still awake at 2 a.m? You go a little insane.
That's what I think as well: Ravenclaw with some Slytherin tendencies and occasional bouts of bravery. And apparently I'm loyal. Heh. I'm going to have to make up a brand new house for myself. It'll be fun! *hugs back*
I apologise for insanity. I really do need to sleep. It's just my bed's all the way upstairs! *whinges*

GARGH!! I've just finished it and I'm not sure I'm even coherent enough to fling anything together. This killed me dead. Ok, in some sense of order

The news that *he* was the one to kill the other prisoner shocked me, I'll admit and was the only thing I sort of went *blink* at, that didn't quite flow right for me
I didn't like that at first either, because it could be read as saying that the 'bad guys' really are worse than the 'good guys'. But then I thought about it. If it was really outside the realm of possibility that the 'bear-men' would smash a suspect's head in in the showers, they would have been looking for an intruder immediately upon finding hiim. The fact was, Draco knew he could do that and no-one would raise an alarm, because it's the kind of thing the 'good guys' would do and did do. The fact that Jennings passed it off as an 'accident' says that it's happened before and it'll happen again, with his blessing. ::shudders:: I think what it shows is that there really is no difference between the 'bad' and the 'good' side when people stop seeing the 'other side' as human beings.

You are fantastic. I love these debate things because I get to start it off, chip in my two cents and some things I notice and hear other peoples, seeing if they picked up on anything else that I missed or are able to put down in words things I noticed but couldn't seem to make sense of my own thoughts long enough to put it down on paper. This, is exactly what you did. Thank you.
Your comment was exactly how I felt about the whole thing and it is rather disconcerting that the apparent 'good guys' didn't even question that Jennings would have went to such an extent and that even his prodegee, Harry, was ready to believe that he would have harmed this man (can't remember his name)to such an extent he felt physically ill.

You know what? This comment is brilliant. Thank you for bringing that up, thats such a good point, that sort of sailed past me while I was busy being indignant and rageful. See this is what I like about the whole debates thing.

Exactly, thank you for saying this, because you've just shifted this inexplicable action into one that makes sense within the whole theme of the story. Hurrah!
Hi I'M not going to say much about " The Good Guys" before I review it at Fraych's site but for anyone who has read "Danse Russse" should not be surprised that the story is a great one or that it is disturbing is she commementing on the current political climate i'll leave that up to whoever is reading the story and as for her being a Slytherin I think that she belongs in all four houses just like we all do Peace RB
I love Danse Russe but as of yet haven't commented on the story as I only tend to do so when the whole story is finished, and Frayach has said she has an epilogue in the pipeline, which I can't wait for.
When you have reviewed The Good Guys on Frayach's site, if there's anything else you want to add, feel free to come back and comment. This debate thing really interests me and I love reading other people's opinions, besides my own.
moments ago i finished the read. and im still like.
eh??@#R@$::?
right. but the points brought up are quite interesting. and thank you for beginning this debate as i think it fleshes out the kinks for those of us slow ones...
on that note... what was up with the location of voldemort?? is it the actual location? is this what draco meant by seeing harry soon? at the end of the letter....
