Greetings from Poland, where we take spring really serious. :)

Wow. O.o

Aw, come on! No overgrown seasonal folklore decorations on Ukraine? :D

(Not asking about America. America has the overgrown everything, so decorations don't count. Especially decorations.)

(Then again, there was that Polish joke: everything is the largest in Soviet Soyuz, even krasnoludki [those folktale gnomes, you know])

That's interesting! I thought at first glance that it was a maypole but of course it isn't May yet...

Also, maypoles aren't that popular here nowadays.

Love it! So pretty!

Last year I took pictures of them erecting a May pole but never posted them, maybe I should do that this year when the time comes!

Go big or go home!:D i thought there surely was gonna be a papal joke somewhere in there, too, after dedication :P

The procession pics I have dont have a pole as big as this one! Just rows and rows of people cosplaying as jesus and showing off ridic pretty national costumes :D

A. It's kinda religious, after all, so papal jokes sponsor it by default and by proxy. ;)
and
B. Papal presence in Poland is like yarmulke in that one joke about Moses - goes without saying. ;)

Sounds about right, especially the latter. :D The 25m pole is supposed to be just a mammoth version of the ones the people in that procession carried. In recent years/decades it's become a thing to have one in front of the local government building (so, the Town Hall in this case; it's not within the frame because reasons; I mean, composition, lighting and such), like a Christmas tree. And Palm Sunday in the countryside tends to be a festival of showing off, mostly about length and/or decorativeness. One village is even famous for running an annual contest for almost sixty years straight. (Not so far from Kraków, actually.)

<3<3 Cool about it not really being tilted but looking that way! I watched a show on TV the other day that showed us a road... I think in Italy...? Where the road looks like it is going up hill, but it really isn't. They get a ton of people on the weekends just coming to put their car in neutral and coast "up" the hill :D

I heard it grows local legends about magic sites where water flows upward. Optical illusionas are awesome. :)
