Considering what a crappy friend I am recently, I’ll be surprised if you even notice that something has twitched on this journal, but then again, all the more I need to keep it twitching once in a while. This time the opportunity came in the form of something I’ve wanted to show you for long time. It’s a thing niche enough that chances are you’re

I love the gem expo photos! I know that they are a thing, but have never been to one myself. My mother has gone to a couple, I think, as we used to have an acquaintance who was in the business in some form, either importing stones or selling jewelry or something. I keep thinking I should take L, as we both geek out on this stuff, but either I find out about them too late or something else comes up. Also the prices tend to be a lot less palatable than the ones in zloty, from what I understand!
The silver is very neat -- I do like the melting clocks, but the spiders even more tbh :) The sivlered/gilded leaves are cool (but, yeah, look too fragile to do anything with), and the flower/leaf filled globes. And I've never seen blue amber! I prefer the, well, amber-colored one, but it's cool to know that's a thing.

You're very much right!

Currency rates and economy differences aside, expos like these tend to be very diverse within one hall. There's always some cheap stuff next to 'mortgage needed' stuff. Granted, usually the latter is what you really want... However, stones themselves are actually pretty cheap (of course, cheap x 20 pieces is not cheap again), and they only get more pricey when you want them wearable and insist on good quality framing. If it helps, I can tell I don't really buy that much myself, usually just watching is fun as well. The organizers know that, that's why they charge you for a ticket by way of welcome. :)
the spiders even more tbh :)
Perfect! You can take all of them, the sooner the better! XD

Ah yes, those quotes next to such a small harmless lady. :> She was anything but! That is, yes, she was a dame in the old meaning - perfectly charming AND razor sharp-witted. Like that joke about who a diplomat is - someone able to tell you gtfo in such a manner that you happily look forward to setting off on this journey. I'd, uh, tentatively say her poetry is actually kind of sort of relatively easy translatable. Or rather not easy, but not losing that much. That's because it doesn't focus as much on beauty of language* as rather on finding the right words for ideas, and it's always the first and foremost about ideas - observations, associations, musing-triggers...
* Though I do read her for this, but it's the beauty of use of the language, the precision and sense of it. It's not decorative 'prettiness' that people often think the 'beautiful writing' must be ( ... )
