Thank you for this very thorough and delightfully curated listening experience! :D
I'm pretty sure I saw the "Wellerman" cover by these guys before, but most of this was new to me, including some of the non-original songs, too. That is seriously some range for Tim! -- though I definitely prefer him in the "Hillbilly Bone" register. But overall, as someone who likes deep male voices and country, this was very RTMI! :D
My favorite songs/clips were "Misty Mountains" (that song always gives me shivers, but in their version especially), "Thank God I'm a Country Boy" and "Honey, I'm Good" (such fun vids, too, both of those!), "Folsom Prison Blues" (which is a song I had not heard before, and thus had not realized the "shot a man in Reno just to watch him die" line was from there), the snarky Christmas ones ("Cold Hard Cash" and "Full of Cheer"), "Hillbilly Bone", "Quarantine", "Meet in the Middle" (I hadn't heard that song before, and it's such a sweet message, too), and "Everybody Walking this Land" (it is kind of hypnotic, yeah!)
Thank you for this very thorough and delightfully curated listening experience! :D Full fannish mode, you sure understand. XD
That is seriously some range for Tim! And still I haven't counted in or brought anything where he goes full falsetto and holds it on key... XD
though I definitely prefer him in the "Hillbilly Bone" register It seems to be his most natural, as it matches his speaking voice, while higher he rather reaches than sits, so to speak. On stage, they have a micro-skit (they love skits) where in one specific song Tim on the lead gets carried up and Rob halts everything, "Whoa, dude, mind your place, it's our field." ("Yeah!" Austin adds.) Tim, properly chastised, goes "Well, okay" and takes up from where he got interrupted, this time vibrating everyone out of seats. Actually, this was the exact cause for when at some tiny makeshift field venue the sound system, likely HF's peer by age, got overloaded and shorted out. Which obviously made a running joke in the fandom, "that time when Tim killed the speakers".
I definitely do, and am delighted to see you enjoying a new fandom to this extent! :D
The woman that picks Rob up at the end of the latter is his actual wife.
I was wondering if that was the case -- that's really cute! :)
had not realized the "shot a man in Reno just to watch him die" line was from there Was it referenced somewhere?
I've just kind of heard it around/been aware of it to the point that I've used it myself (like, I might have alluded to it to explain Astatine's motivation to L when she pointed out it wasn't clear in the first draft of the fic)
re: Meet in the Middle - I love how they took care to pick songs fitting the quarantine theme for covering, even if they weren't originally written for it Yeah, it worked surprisingly well as a quarantine song! (but/and I also like the original meaning, now that I have heard the song)
Based on your faves, you might want checking out also Long Black Train. :) Also, Tim says "Full of Cheer" is sorta sequel to Champagne Taste On a

I was wondering if that was the case -- that's really cute! :) Each of them (except Adam so far) has at least one whole song with/for their ladies. Not counting the song for moms and another for women in general. And of course such small snippets in other vids. I think pets are due a song or couple now, they only get snippets so far...
I've just kind of heard it around/been aware of it to the point that I've used it myself I see. I have it somewhat like this with a phrase I use a lot (for one, in the Polish version of this entry) but for a life of me cannot recall where I got it from. I mean, I could find it if I really put myself to it, but I feel like I should just remember it...
"and that was just the fellers sitting on top of the pile" That, and "I won't see her pretty face at all, cause the prison is nowhere near the mall" :D It's one of their earliest and still one of best and deservedly one of most popular.
LOL that looks like the e-mails my brother likes to send me with way too many video links and then I have a hard time keeping up ;) Revenge like a boss and send him an email like this back. Obviously demand a reply. ;>
The fun thing is, I heard the German version of this first Happens all the time, I think! For all my life I knew many songs as covers first. :)
As for Homefree, I also love the "Little Mermaid" medley. They do get crazy with dressing up but it all fits ;) But that's VoicePlay. You mean, there is some connection to HF in there?
But that's VoicePlay. You mean, there is some connection to HF in there? I'm not sure what I was thinking, to be honest... I was just scrolling youtube, looking for something else when this turned up and I remembered that I had liked it. For me all those a cappella bands do blur a bit together, I don't know all the individual names of the singers like my brother does. I just enjoy the music

Clearly that means Home Free needs to do a Little Mermaid medley and that was the universe's way of pointing it out. I sure approve. :D This said, I love VP & HF doing together their Zombies vs Hilbillies thing. Tbh, I can't even decide if I like the official vid or the stage version better... The former has all the stylization, while the latter wins in action.
The one you describe wasn't HF indeed (unless some collaboration I haven't found yet), but it does seem great!
