Yup, reading long articles that friends post sucks.
But if you wish to know about my new fatalist opinions about our civilization, they have never been stated quite as well as this man does here.
If you don't want, don't read. I mean, seriously. Fuck it.

wow. And I thought I was painting a grim picture. Problem is, I can't think of many ways in which this guy is wrong.

Note to self: Stockpile weapons and supplies, may need them for post apocalyptic hellhole existence right out of Mad Max.

now i'm as cynical as the next guy (at least for being an optomist), but I can't shake my feeling that this guy is off target. I thought that the first half of the article was mostly correct. However, his statement about peak oil point was grossely simplified to the point of near irrelevance. The fact of the matter is that as oil gets more expensive it is economically feasable to extract it from fields are currently not under production. Yes it is more expensive. But we're not talking $10 a gallon expensive, we're talking $5 a gallon expenive. Yes, the key rests on what happens in china and india, and right now thier oil consumption rates are spiking. But I think that in the next 5 years alternative fuels are going to come into their own as well. Brazil is a poineer in ethonol fuelled vehicles and America will rachet this production model into high gear ( ... )
