There were never any sparks. No dancing lights behind her eyes, no fireworks in her head, no feelings of fire or flying or blindness. There was intense sensation, and then...
She felt lost. She was suddenly alone and she had only her body and herself and was scrabbling for anything to cling to. Every single time it was terrifying, because how would she find her way out of the wilderness without him?
But her eyes opened, her body stilled in its frantic search. Because as she looked into his eyes, suspended above her, she found home.
“I love you, too.”
