Why does this country use so many plastic bags? We don't need all of these plastic bags. I get a plastic bag for one snickers bar, or for two books. For one DVD at the video store. I get a plastic bag if I buy a tube of lipstick (which I don't buy, but this is just an example). Can't we carry things in our arms anymore? Don't we have fingers and ( Read more... )

I don't get this either. Our local market is this way, and when I hand my bags over to resuse (or, if I have a canvas tote or something), they look at me like I am nuts. Plain old nuts. All of the stores around here bag everything for you. And if I don't have a bag and say I can carry the three or four things without one, they try to convince me that I need one! I have dogs, so reusing plastic bags in some form or another is something I easily do. But even with that reuse, I don't need more. It's obnoxious. And if I dare to ask for paper bags (I wrap things I mail in them) instead, they act like I've asked them to saw off a limb because now they have to REACH DOWN and grab one.

This is a huge peeve of mine.

That's why I carry these: http://baggubag.com/SHOP.html

I use them CONSTANTLY

yeah, I usually turn down the plastic bags, and they like don't know what to do with themselves. I have cats, so I reuse them too, and I bought a few of those canvas bags and try to use them when I can. It's just, why can't everyone else do this crap? Like, no one thinks it's important at all. And it's not like it's difficult to do. It's like the easiest thing in the world. uggghhh
