Go by tube
I have never liked flying. I expect I'd enjoy a trip in a light aircraft, and I've enjoyed being dragged behind a boat strapped to a parachute. But airliners take what should be the most incredible thing a gravity-bound human being could experience, and make it dull. You sit in a chair bolted inside a metal tube for hours, and if you're ( Read more... )

. Unfortunate, because I like the landing the least. My ears never fail to ache, and sometimes continue to do so for hours after I disembark.

Landings, as far as I can tell, are a way that you can discover not only how far your sinuses extend, but how far all the nerves that go anywhere near your sinuses extend.

I guess it's just something I've gotta live with if I want to go anywhere by air. I'm going to try and see as much of this continent by road as possible.

Oh My God! Seeing the dawn over Persia! *swoons*. You can have Oz (though I'll enjoy reading about it obviously :D), I'm sure it 's wonderful, and I'd like to think I might see it one day but Persia! that's just so amazingly *foreign* - did I say OMG already? The East.... I could wax all poetical, but I'll be merciful and spare you!

It really was magnificent. I too would love to visit there properly, but I kinda get the impression I wouldn't be too welcome.

Oh My God is fine, as many times as you like. No OMGs or LOLs please though - I find it difficult to read anything that's not written how it's spoken.

Well this isn't just for the benefit of people who were here with me. And anyway, it's just me now, so once I get past the first three weeks, it'll all be new to everyone. Just been too busy doing to be writing.
