Annual post time. These are not my words. Read it, liked it, wanted to share it.

"Of all the varieties of irritating comment out there, the absolute most annoying has to be “Why can’t you just watch the movie for what it is??? Why can’t you just enjoy it? Why do you have to analyze it???”

oh indeed, I wasn't advocating the premise of the main article. it's thought provoking, i think there's some element of truth to the 'white guilt' aspect, but i think the article's author might be bringing their own prejudices to the table, as others later commented

Can't comment on how it relates to Avatar or that article not having seen the movie but I agree with you that discussing the film is a way of enjoying on it on more than one level and revisiting the visuals and story as the discussion goes back and forth and means more fun for your cinema ticket price too.

Indeed, I think the comment I transcribed here stands on it's own merit, regardless of the details of the specific article it was a response to.

Yup! It does indeed stand on its own (relative to the article) and is also worth bearing in mind to refer back to should the original cause arise elsewhere.
