While you are at it

You might as well blame 58% of Virginia, 81% of Tennessee, 70+% of Idaho, 57% of Colorado, South Carolina, and South Dakota. Oh and the 20 other states that already define Marriage between one man and one woman.
Secondly the death penalty hasn't passed yet but you show the true depth of your political knowledge. Because the referendum is only an advisory one -- meaning that the state isn't bound by the results. The bill still has to go through the legislation and through Gov. Doyle. Truthfully you should be happy that it was even on the ballot because people had the opportunity to voice their opinion, true democratic process.
Really you've just shown what a true liberal is. Some one that provides no facts and uses an emotional argument that resorts to the third grade style of "I can yell louder than you"
Don't forget you can always move to Massachusetts and adopt.

Justin, I haven't talked to you in a year, I'd like to keep it that way. My problem is more than just that both referendum's passed. It's the fact that people actually passed them. So what if I resort to emotions, those are real and justifiable. Faith isn't. I can tell you I'm unhappy and I can tell you why I'm unhappy. You can tell me God created this world, but you can't tell me how, or why, or even prove it. I also think it shows a considerable amount of idocracy that both a marraige ban passed and people want the death penalty reinstated. The morality behind one contradicts the other. The first one says, I'm religious, and I want everyone else to be. The other says fuck religion, that sucker deserves to die. And I'm not just a "liberal", I'm a human being, like you (if you had a soul... :) ), and i deserve every right you have. Majority might prevails over minority rights, I'm just going to have to come to grips with the fact that most people can't place themselves in another's situation.
as shown by the first comment I got, hate is a natural defense for human beings. I learned in psychology that we strive to identify ourselves as part of a group, and that most of the time we can't seperate ourselves from it. That pretty much somes up why people can't be empathetic to a minority or consider another's point of view. They haven't matured past a preconventional stage of thinking and are still focused on this egocentric idea that their ideas should be everyones, and if not, they are wrong.
It sucks. But I want to tell you the same thing I'm telling everyone: You live in a country where you can do something to change legislation that you think is wrong. What will you do to work for change?
Anger can be healthy. Haha. It's just something to think about. My boyfriend reminded me of that point, so I'm using it to help settle folks down (and get them fired up to do something).
