Members of both families flooded the courtyard, all grace and honour and polite conversation. And false smiles. Those were everywhere. Good social graces can only do so much to cover underlying hostility. That was the point of the wedding.

So much angst! :'( I liked the frustration running through this piece, it made me actually engage with the characters, particularly Kristian. I also like the fact that nothing is resolved by the end, that he is forced to live with the reality of the marriage.

There were a few forced or iffy phrases. "The flaws were beautiful" for example, is a little cliche and also just repeats what you were saying in the rest of the paragraph. Also saying 'saddened him' makes me think more of him just pouting lol. It doesn't suit the frustration in the rest of the piece that makes his character come over so strong. Maybe you could change it to 'angered him' - make him more of an active participant.
