Oh my gosh. So. Cool. I'd love to jump on this bandwagon with you, but I'm not going to have enough vacation next year. I could probably do a small European peak though or if you wanted to try an American one for practice...
I only get 10 days of vacation, and I already know I have to go to Philadelphia for a wedding (friend from college) and then to San Francisco for a wedding reception (my cousin).
On the other hand though, I know people in both New York and San Francisco and if you went there, I could make things happen :-) Though Boston would be most optimal in making things happen.
Oh, that's a shame -- it would be much more fun to go with someone I know. I owe you an email, so I'll elaborate in my reply before you leave for this year's meagre vacation time.
I can't believe you only get ten days off work -- that's slave labour. The legal minimum here is three or four weeks (I forget which), but most people are entitled to more when they've been in a job for a while.
Intros to people in US cities would be much appreciated when I make my trip west, though I'm not sure about Boston. Somehow, it doesn't have the glamorous allure of the other two. I know New England in the fall is a huge tourist attraction, but I already live in similar surroundings -- people come here to see the autumn colours in our valley. Maybe it's not quite on such a grand scale, but the similarity means I'd rather spend the time somewhere really different. I'm not city-oriented anyway; I want to experience them, but I wouldn't want to stay too long.
