I know what you mean...I once read a book where all high-ranking Nazis were actually vampires...I put it away again quite quickly, as that's just too easy an excuse :/
yes, it seems to be a very popular theme ! I have seen a book where Stalin and his henchmen were presented as demons and as you see - in "Abraham Lincoln Vampire Hunter" the slavery was instigated by vampires (plus there was a line about Nazis as vampires too).
Dude, I can't tell you what I think about the Vor Game because I pretty much read omnibus edition after omnibus edition and in, like, 3 months I had read everything that was ever written about the Vorkosigan saga. LOL Things tend to blur now. I should go and check which one was this.
Oh I loooove Aral and Cordelia. I wish there were more stories centered around them and yes, they're favorites of mine as well. My favorite Miles Vorkosigan stories are those set in his youth. Adult Miles is nice, but boy if I miss how reckless and completely wild he was. Heh.
Also? There HAS to be more Ivan and Gregor. Thankfully, I already preordered Captain Vorpatril's Alliance. IS IT NOVEMBER YET? laksjdlajfkhsf Ivaaaaaaaaan! ♥♥♥♥♥
Btw, I'm in a bit of a slump with my books too. After the BURNING disappointment that "2312" was, I'm not in the right mood to read.
The Vor Game is where Gregor got "lost", Miles is still young and yes, he is absolutely adorable.
I find that with audiobooks, because I "have to" listen to every single word (I tend to skip things I am not interested if I read "By eyes", even unintentionally) I tend to rememebr things much better. The only problem is how to spell the names, but I often google this.
I dore Ivan and Gregor and I would love more of their stories. I didn't like how Elena was shafted into a sidetrack story as well, I was hoping for her own books. :P
Have you read "Rivers of London"? This was soooooo great. I loved "The First Law" trilogy as well. BTW, how was "Caliban's war"?
oh yes, the one where Gregor made me headdesk a few times. LOL
I'm the opposite. I can't concentrate with audio books UNLESS I follow along the reading, which kind of defeats the purpose of audiobooks. LOL
I like Elena, but NGL, she's one of my least favorite characters. Which doesn't say much cos I tend to love all of them. But yeah, as a female character? There were others I liked more. IDK why exactly because she's cool, but...IDK, she leaves me a bit cold?
No, I haven't. I'll add it to my list.
Caliban's war was fantastic imho. It's great scifi! I liked the style/plot/pacing/characters so much I already bought another book (a fantasy this time) by the same writer. Even if I'm not much of a FS fan.
