Life Update + Spiral (Engrenages)

Life:Hiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiii! First, a quick real life update: everything is getting better. My low back (and buttocks) is still painful, but in more manageable way. The end verdict is that the problem is in SI (Sacroiliac) joint and the verdict makes sense to me. I am doing physio exercises that seem to be making it gradually better and take ( Read more... )

I'm glad that you manage *hugs* And well, after I almost screwed up my knees in Korea (in a completely unnecessary kind of way) I've become very conscious about the fact that I should take better care.

@ TV
Uh, sounds really interesting.

@ Lost
One of thise shows I'll never try. Don't know, but it never appealed to me and the more I hear about it the less I care. *gg*

Oh no! I hope your knees will get better! It is a bit frustrating to find that your body wasn't meant for sitting in a strange postures for long periods of time

Lost: it is actually much better than I thought it is going to be. I did have low expectations, I think. it does have some good characters (Korean couple are my favourites, of course) and I really appreciate the diversity in the characters. But the main idea? IT IS STRANGE

They're better, but they hurt much faster whenever I push myself too hart (hiking too fast without too few breaks for example). But fortunetaly it doesn't hinder me in my everyday life and at work, so barely a reason to complain.

@ Lost
The main idea is my problem, it simply doesn't interest me. I marathoned 4 seasons of Fringe, because I thought it sounded awesome, but with "Lost"...just no. *gg*

Oh, this still doesn't sound ideal. With hiking, the uneven surface must make the difference for the knees?

yep. I am the same. I enjoy watching things with my daughter (then watching is more of a together time than just watching) , that is the only reason I am able to endure..

I'm glad you're feeling better, and I hope that means we'll see more of you. I have scaroiliac issues, too, but much more minor than yours, thank heavens.

So nice to hear from you!!! I hopefully will be better with posting.

I have never heard of SI joint before my back troubles but now when I read on it it seems like a common issue , especially for females. I think I could have started getting better much sooner if I had a proper physio and knew what is wrong from the beginning. I kept doing things that are a real Si no-no for a long time.

I hope you are feeling well!

I confess I haven't looked into it much. What sorts of things shouldn't I be doing?

Also, meant to say that I've never minded subtitles, though since I often watch TV while I'm working on the computer, sometimes they're just inconvenient.

Sitting with legs crossed (which is how I injured it, this was my sitting position even at a computer), or sitting with legs curled underneath. Then things like jumping on one leg (but I don't do that too much).

Oh I understand that. I actually think that majority of Americans don't have a problem! But for some reason USA networks keep telling everyone "American public will never watch anything with subs" and they seem to be always remaking foreign shows and films.
I think the real reason is something else (money?) - why else won't they broadcast good shows from Europe but make re-makes instead? Even BBC (the main UK channel) does broadcast foreign shows all the time!

Glad that you're feeling better and had a nice break.

Thanks for the rec. I love crime dramas and mystery! I looked it up and luckily it seems like Netflix is going to be releasing it with the subs for Americans. .

YAY! Hopefully you like it. Take me right, I do enjoy American shows. But for some reason European shows are more of my thing.

Yes, it was subbed by BBC they had Spiral on for 3 seasons!!!

I tend to like more European shows as well. I don't really follow a lot of American shows. They tend to have too many episodes in a season and have been running far longer than they should be.

HBO and Showtime tend to have better shows but they can be too graphic sometimes.

I am the same . Even some HBO shows tend to go on and on and on. I adored Dexter to start with, but now I am just watching for completeness sake, for example. The premise has long become uninteresting.

SO nice to see you in these parts again. I'm glad you are doing better.

I never warmed up to Lost myself. I tried to watch it when it aired here but got about half way S1 and gave up. I got thoroughly bored.

I just realised I've seen the S1 and S2 of Spiral way back when. We used to get a French tv channel that run it. They had couple of other interesting crime shows as well. It was bit of a challenge watching as it only had French subs, LOL! Turned out I had not forgotten all the French I learned at school after all. :)

Hopefully I will get to post more often! I have even been watching quite few dramas lately, especially during the winter break.

I think Spiral is popular all over Europe!!! But you are awsome - you know quite few languages!

During winter holidays I have sailed through some old stuff like "Queen of Reversals" (I am in Park Shin Yang phase) and I am 20 episodes in "Can you hear my heart" (it is a much better drama than I expected). I have "Princess' man" and "Love rain" ready to go.

Good to hear from you. Glad you have a diagnosis on your lower back and glut pain.

I've never heard about Americans not liking sub titles. I imagine some people probably don't like them. I don't mind them at all. I've had a few European friends on LJ that said they don't like subtitles. I imagine it depends on the person.

Yep, as above - I don't think American people are less inclined to read subs than Europeans. It the the networks that cultivate this opinion IMHO. I have a bee in my bonnet against these tactics, though. :D

YAY! I am so glad to see you all on LJ still. I have caught up with my Dresden files recently and I liked the last book (Cold days). Not so much Ghost story though. But I might write an angry letter to Jim Butcher - he must stop all that teasing about HArry and Murphy. It has been 14 books, for goodness sake!

I didn't care for Ghost Story either. Loved Cold Days. :)
