Having finished, FINALLY, all seven Harry Potter books I felt compelled to fill a meme (of my own creation):
Characters:
1. Most awesome character: Dumbledore
The one and truly.
2. Most thought-provoking character: Snape.I used to like reading WW2 spy novels when I was young, so I guess it is no wonder I find Snape’s character so interesting.

I think I see your point about Fred.. ** sigh ** Yes, that makes sense.
Harry is actually Voldemort's son, Voldi is actually a good guy and evil!Dumbledore just made himk look bad all the time and Harry and Snape end up together', variations include: Hary is Snape's son and ends up with Voldemort or Harry is the son of Snape and Voldemort and ends up with Draco...)I CAN NOT UN-READ THIS once I have read it. I think shipping the young adults with the actual adults in HP universe is definitely not my thing at all. I can see where people are coming from with Harry being someone else's son (either Snape's or Voldermort's ( ... )

I can totally see Harry/Draco, and Draco/Hermione too, lots of chemistry together in both cases.
And yes, I wished they did more of Ginny scenes in the films! I really adore her in the books and I thought the actress was good, but as far as I remember there seemed no gradual "falling in love" on Harry's part (which started in he book 4 I think) at all. Their kiss seemed to be totally out of the blue.

More than Fred, I hated that both Lupin and Tonks died leaving their little one an orphan. Maybe it's the mommy in me but I didn't like that bit one iota.
Sirius' death was a little huh? to me as well. He just fell through the veil and that was it? I really thought there would be more to it than that. Something that Rowling would revisit in future books.
For awhile I was interested in finding Bellatrix/Voldy fics but there was nothing interesting out there.
I agree with all your favorite characters. I loved how Dumbly was shown to be fallible and very human. Great touch! I also agree that picturing Rickman as Snape worked better for me than picturing him as the oily haired. Not appealing at all.

Yes, I thought one of the very good points was the way the growing up process was shown not as only "let's get new adventures" thing, but also as beginning to understand (and accept) that no-one is perfect, including Harry's parents or Dumbledore.
But I thought this was better handled in Dumbledore's case. I really didn't think how a person (Harry's father) could turn from a bully into a decent human being. I remember our school bullies and I have seen some of them later. None of them improved with age.

So many great little details throughout the series. I love Rowling's world-building.
Are you watching the current season of Game of Thrones?
