There is nothing like a surprise trip to surprise you

So, I said a few days ago that I was going to get all these new friends from this community, and it was going to be awesome, and then I disappeared. Oh yes, I did. And I was thinking I had better post a lot, at least in the early stages. Then all of a sudden I find out that my family and I are going up to see my dad's aunt, who is very old and ( Read more... )

Yes, it is the first time, but not my first year at college. Last year I commuted to school, but it was too inconvenient... and too expensive with gas! Anyway, DU provides a desk, a closet, a chest of drawers, a bed, a waste paper basket, and a chair at the desk. That's all. So I have to bring everything else. I have got flip flops on the list, but I think we (me and my 4 suitemates) have a shower in our bathroom, because I am looking at the floorplan and I do not see a big showers area. I have most of those other things, too, like the ID card lanyard and bookbag from last year that I am going to use over again because for the first time in my life they did not disintegrate. The plastic storage things are a good idea, and I shall also add umbrella to the list, because I had forgotten about that even though it rains a lot here. And they do not allow risers on the beds. So no luck there.

If your having to cook for yourself I recommend getting your parents to pay for as much food as you can that won't go off, like pasta and tomato sauce etc. You might also want to get more than 1 plate/bowl otherwise you'll have to wash them after every meal whereas if you have two of each you can just wash everything at the end of the day and so save time and probably washing liquid too ^^

I'll have a meal plan, so I will be getting most of my meals from the university. Also I will be using paper plates and bowls and stuff most of the time. The real stuff is for microwaving things on because paper stuff has a nasty habit of turning into goo when you put hot liquids on it, or microwave it.
