I've got bad, bad asthma, which is one of the reasons I quit smoking a month or so back. But still, when I was out on the weekend, every single person that was smoking... I wanted to leap across the bar and suck the toxins from their lungs...
And yeah, they do have very different tastes. You can get some that taste sort of chocolatey, some more coffee, or tea like you said. Depends where it was grown, what it was fed with etc.
There's a definite difference in tobacco flavors - hence the reason people end up choosing a particular brand. Some tobacco is stronger, some more smokey, some sweet, etc.
It's probably not truly a physical craving, but more of a mental/emotional one; those are harder to get past. Do NOT give in to it - the more often you do, the more ingrained and insidious the habit becomes. I quit smoking almost 2 years ago, and I wouldn't wish the hell of withdrawal on anyone.
I'm not a smoker (like getting stoned though) but I want a cig every fucking break time at work. I see the relief the smoking people get from it you see. We're there, stressed out to the max and I'm like o_O and they're like o_O "I need a smoke" and then break comes and they storm off and come back all ^_^ "feel better" and I'm o_O "I need..." Sucks.
I like to blame the anti-smoking adds and the anti-smoking laws and stuff for making me smoke.
Not true as I probably would smoke even if they didn't exist (there's nothing as relaxing as a good cigarette), but still. A part of me did start smoking because of the anti-smoking stuff *shrug*
Also, cigarettes do taste differently. That's why there's good cigarettes and bad cigarretes. And why some choose one cigarette to smoke and some choose another.
I think the craving is mostly mentally for a lot of people. I have "friend" who needs a smoke every half hour - even though she eats the cig-gum all the time. It's insane.
