I reported my 70-some year old grandmother to AOL for sending spam.

I think I'm going to hell.

But in all fairness, you did warn her. H

I have. I even let her last nasty forward slide with the hope that she had sent it to me on accident.

What did she send you this time? You think she would have gotten the hint at by now. You've only told her like what 45000 times? :)

You did what? Oh, wow. I'm not sure my grandma even knows that the internets exist. Say, the penis enlargment spam doesn't come from your grandma? ;-)

I'm a rather liberal person. Almost all of my political tendencies are strongly democratic.

Ever since getting an email address my grandmother has been forwarding all these really nasty speeches and jokes that tend to be anti-immigration, anti-semitic (very rarely, but still), pro-crazy religious involvement in schools and government, and just all around nasty, right-wing propaganda.

I don't like it. It upsets me. I've told her a thousand times not to send it to me. You would think that I could just not read her forwards but she tends to stick actual letters into the emails. So there will be a forward containing some nasty joke as well as information about old Uncle Otis' hip replacement.

So, I finally told her that I was going to report her as a spammer if she continued to send me this type of stuff. And last night I got a forward about how individuals of the Islamic faith need to....and it just goes down-hill from there.

Damn, and I thought it was still somewhat funny, but obviously, it isn't. It must be hard to have someone in your close family who is being so nasty. Well, you told her to stop. Now I'm curious to see if and how AOL reacts.

The funny thing is that she doesn't really feel that way. She's also rather liberal. Hell, when she was younger she was a volunteer nurse at migrant farms. There is just something about the internet that makes her go all stupid. :(

I imagine that for AOL to do anything about the spam complaint she would need to get be reported a lot more than just once. But we'll see.

really?!?

i mean, i can't blame you. when she's around me she starts talking about how i'm the only person who likes all of her forwards, that everyone else in the family gives her crap about it...i hold my tongue...

but i NEVER receieve any political ones...i only ever get the this is another example of god's love in the world. also, i only receive one everynow and then on my yahoo mail. she still sends them to my aol mail and heck if i ever check that.

well, go you. i understand how you feel
