Home sweet home

Well, I have arrived safely, slept a bit, eaten my mommy's pancakes, and I'm about to step into the wood fired hot tub (why wood fired when we live in the middle of the city? I know not). It's nice to be home, I can say that. It's all rainy and springlike - I missed the smell of rain in Minnesota, and the immense greenery of everything. I look ( Read more... )

Yay! Welcome back to the States! :)

When I lower myself into the calming, hot water of the cedar tub, I can pretend that I am up at The Lake. The pine trees and birds and wind chimes help me forget that Central Avenue is a mere 3 blocks away with its buses, cars and noise. When we had an electric hot tub, it was too plastic and fantastic for me. I didn't like the feel of the plastic seats, the noise of the jets and the heat pump, and it seemed very wasteful. Now we wait until the snow has melted and we can stroll to the deck without freezing in the process. It makes it just that much more wonderful. And I love the smell of the wood fire and the crackling sounds it makes. Each time I go in the tub, it is like opening a gift for the first time. It is heated with love from Jeff chopping wood and tending the fire until the water is piping hot. There are no chemicals; the water smells nice and it doesn't dry out your skin. That's why.
