Alex woke with a jolt from a nightmare that shocked and disturbed him. He attempted to shake the memory of it from his still sleep-clouded mind, but failed. How could he ever look at Tom Milsom the same way if he couldn't forget the extremely...odd, dream about him?! He shivered. A nice hot mug of tea would calm his frayed nerves.
Charlie, for the first time since he moved in, was up after Alex, who was sitting on the sofa with his mug forgotten and cold on the table. The television wasn't on: Alex just sat there, staring blankly at nothing, deep in thought.
"what's the matter, Alex?" Charlie asked, concerned with how Alex was managing to, A get up before him, and B sit still on the sofa doing absolutely NOTHING, without there being something extremely wrong. When Alex didn't answer, Charlie immediately leapt the short distance between them and shook Alex by the shoulders. " ALEX?! What's bloody wrong?!" he yelled at the YouTuber. That got Alex out of his "trance" and he yelled right back as if he HADN'T just been sitting almost unconscious on the sofa.
"I'm fucking fine, Charlie! Just didnt sleep well, that's all!" he yelled. "leave me alone a second, alright?!" and then, seeing the hurt look in charlie's blue eyes, made a hasty apology and went back to concentrating hard on forgetting the dream--"no. Nightmare" he reminded himself. It was a nightmare...there was no way in hell he would consider THAT a remotely good dream. Not when it involved himself and Tom Milsom with...less clothes than he would want to have that close to him in real life.
Charlie was still gazing worriedly at Alex when he snapped back to reality.
"I SAID, do you want to go see Ed and--" Charlie started, but Alex interrupted. "No! I...I don't feel like going all the way to Ed's place today..." he said, trying to cover up what could have been, and probably was, a clear sign that something bad was going on between Alex and Tom. Apparently, he hadn't done a very good job at covering his mistake/impulse, because Charlie looked even more worried about him now.
"okay, seriously now: what. the. hell's. wrong, Alex?" Charlie asked again. But Alex only stared back blankly as if the question hadn't even registered in his brain. Charlie, panicking now, grabbed alex's arm franticly and basically dragged him to Tom and Ed's with him kicking and screaming all the way.
By the time the two finally got to the other Admirals' flat, Charlie was positively exhausted, and Alex had all but given up in his fruitless attempts to escape the surprisingly strong grip of the younger male. They staggered through the door, breathless, and Charlie said, gasping for breath still, "There's something. Wrong. With Alex." The two shocked twenty-somethings living in the flat were only half-awake, and they hadn't the slightest clue as to what Charlie was talking about, so they didn't reply, which frustrated Charlie. Meanwhile, alex was standing stunned, staring at Tom with a horrified expression on his face, and also doing some strange stuttering thing in an attempt to form words. "see what I mean?! He...I don't know what wrong with him, guys..." Charlie said, his voice almost sorrowful. Alex had been this way all day, and had refused to come to Ed and tom's flat. He just didn't know what to make of Alex's condition, really.
Ed walked over to comfort charlie, while Tom looked at Alex confusedly. Tom was beginning to get uncomfortable with how Alex was staring at him with that dumbfounded, and close-to-a-mental-breakdown, look to him. He got up cautiously (Tom did, I mean. It gets confusing sometimes when you have four guys in a story and they're all "he, him, etc."), and moved over to Alex, who looked on the verge of some kind of breakdown. When he got within about a foot of the shorter brunette, Alex's memories of the dream (he'd stopped calling it a nightmare unknowingly.) all came flooding back. This was exactly how his dream had started out: an innocent trip to Ed and tom's shared flat. However, the second Tom had gotten too close, Alex had become overwhelmed with strange, lust-like emotions that he knew deep down would never be between himself and Tom, and the setting had flashed from the living room to the bedroom. The next thing Alex knew, the dream-Alex and the luscious dream-bluenette had gotten cozy and shirtless together, which caused the real Alex great discomfort.
On the contrary though, this time no lusty emotions came, despite alex's fear that they would come the second he got too close to Tom. He sighed inwardly with relief, and relaxed his tense body. The fear was gone, but now it was being replaced by, what was it? It couldn't be love! No! Not after nearly an entire day of avoiding him! Alex tried to reassure himself that he was NOT falling for Tom Milsom, but failed. The fear returned, but not the fear of losing control of himself, but the fear that he truly DID like Tom. (a man, let's not forget!) Tom was still there, staring at him half-scared, and half-concerned. "A-Are you okay, Alex?" tom asked, breaking the awkward silence that had loomed about them for so long. Alex shook his head to clear his mind, preparing himself for speech. "yeah...yeah, I'm fine...just a bit...tired?" that last part sounded too much like a question. The others in the room stayed silent, while tom and alex continued to stare at each other for a long long time. "is he thinking the same things? No. Can't be. He's strait; so am I." thought Alex to himself, still trying futily to convince himself he didn't like Tom THAT WAY, but still failing miserably.
After what seemed like ages of him staring into the bluenette's lovely eyes, it was Charlie who broke the silence. (which was odd, considering how quiet he is.) "er...Alex? Tom? Why are you...staring. at each other. like that?..." he asked cautiously, trailing off. The truth was Alex was lost in tom's eyes, trying desperately not to pounce on the musician. He WASN'T gay, nor was he bisexual! Or, at least, that's what he wanted not to be...after that strange dream last night, he didn't know what he was anymore...and Tom just stared right back at him all the while, for fear that if he turned away something terrible would happen. So he just gazed back into alex's eyes, flicking his vision to the vein in alex's jaw sticking out as if the brunette was clenching his teeth really super hard. (which he was, of course, to keep from attacking Tom.)
Hours had passed (or maybe just seconds) before the two broke eye contact, and the four confused and scared boys returned to trying to find out what was bothering Alex so deeply.
After what seemed like hours of pestering from Charlie and Ed, Alex stole a minute alone with Tom, who looked genuinely scared when they ended up together alone with Charlie and Ed out discussing what to do about alex's obvious problem. (how smart are they to leave the two alone when they know Alex is having some kind of issues with Tom?!)
Alex started to attempt speech at last. "I-I...Tom?" he said tentatively. The still-terrified Tom turned around from one of his many keyboards, and looked warily at Alex, who was standing on the other side of Tom's crowded-with-instruments bedroom.
"what, Alex? Are you ready to TALK to me now?" Tom asked quietly. Alex didn't seem to here him.
"I had a weird dream...about you and me...that's why I've been avoiding you...sorry?" he offered.
"what d'you mean 'a weird dream'?" Tom asked curiously, then his face darkened as he realized what Alex meant by 'weird'. "you mean..." he said disbelievingly. Alex only nodded painfully, afraid of how Tom would react to the idea of him having sexy dreams about the two of them, and LIKING it deep down inside! On the contrary, though, Tom was trying desperately to hide his ecstatic emotions from Alex. Tom thought that Alex was extremely disturbed by the fact that he'd had an intimate dream about him, so he swallowed back the lust that flowed through him. (sorry about all the he and him stuff. It's difficult with writing about same-gender stuff!) meanwhile, Alex was having mixed feelings about the situation. For one, he was extremely turned on by the fact that he was in tom's room alone with him. Another thing was he was terrified by tom's grave expression. (which was forced, of course.)
After literally five minutes of waiting for a response from his blue-haired love, Alex couldn't wait any longer. "well?! What do you think?!" he asked impatiently. Tom was startled by alex's sudden outburst.
"d-did you...like the dream?" Tom cautioned, he didn't want to hold back his feelings if Alex was feeling the same.
"I-I dunno...what would you say if I said...yes?" Alex replied awkwardly. If Tom felt something for him, he wouldn't have to be full of angst and confusion anymore.
"I'd say...this." Tom said, pulling Alex's lips to his. He couldn't fight his overpowering lustful feelings any longer. Their lips crashed together and Alex didn't quite register what had happened until they were both entwined on tom's bed, charlie and Ed forgotten.
