"Hero" definitely plays to Cook's brand, a concession that Archuletta probably made (to his credit) in the face of his presumably inevitable victory. My first thought was oh you go, Cookie, hitting those high notes even when it fits more naturally in Archuletta's range. And my second thought was that Archie was really, really trying to look natural ( Read more... )

Hi there, I was going to post about this but you seem like you might know the answer to this. I usually love watching American Idol but completely missed this season, so tonight when I saw the results I had no feelings about it... except confusion, because, was the guy who won gay? Who was the guy he head-snuggled at the end? I googled it, but all I found were these homophobic ramblings... is this a known thing? Or a false perception? Or a closeted thing?

Sock it to me.

I honestly don't know. The guy that head snuggled him at the end is Michael Johns, who was another contestant, so I'm pretty sure that was just a friend thing. Unless they're actually secret lovers. I'm going to have to visualize that... for awhile.

But you're right - he's extremely noncommittal about all of it. I've never heard him give any indication of romantic interest either way. It's hard for me to guess because I have absolutely no radar, especially because it wouldn't, uh, get in my way or anything HA HA I am so rude.

Anyway! Sorry I honestly don't know. We'll find out in a couple years when it comes out in People Magazine and everyone can get all Shocked or w/e like they did when Clay came out.

See, I have very spotty gaydar because if I find a man attractive, 99% of the time he is gay. But the problem is it doesn't work in reverse -- I don't find all gay men attractive -- Clay Aiken for example.

Wait... who was I just talking with, about how all the American Idol male finalists are gay, like, always? It's not true, but you know, it's all kids who did musical theater in high school. Hmmm.

Well thank you for clarifying who the tender hugger was. I'd say they love each other. Also Michael Johns' outfit was very dapper, so, you know, that fed into the impression. And if you're not gushing on about your awesome fiancee or girlfriend or boyfriend or wife or whatever... another clue... so based on the 3 minutes I observed, I am going to bet he's gay. Easy money. So, visualize away.
