According to LJ I haven't posted here in forever. Oops. I keep resolving to post more often and every time that goes out the door.

Things are going good. Life has pretty much consisted of work - what's new - but we're starting to get closer to moving into the house (it LOOKS finished!!!) and the wedding is looking scarily close. So... y'know, that' ( Read more... )

I thought the "correct" form for hyphenating was maiden name-married name? Not entirely sure though since I haven't really looked into it...I plan on ditching my last name as soon as it's an option.

Sorry to hear about all the bills, I hope you can get caught up soon.

I kept my maiden name, and passed it on to Willow. I'm very into that, personally. If you're not, I'd recommend going with Alex Lynch Hulett, without the hyphen, and treat the Lynch part like a middle name.

This is my advice based on my experience re your surname. I changed my name largely because I was happy to be rid of a surname that has a really really lame joke attached to it, which I have heard a billion times over my lifetime and which everyone who says it thinks Im probably hearing it for the first time ever....annoyingly.

However, shortly after taking husband's name my father died. Now I wish I had kept his name. I loved him, I was proud of him, it was his name and I wish I still had it because it was my greatest visible connection to him.
So my advice would be, think about what your current name means to you before you go giving it up.
