The funny thing is I never tasted dangos; your post was the first time I ever heard of them, I had to check Wikipedia to find out what is this beautiful thing :-)

wow those look beautiful. what's the red one made out of? did you ever try making warabi mochi, or those little triangle/cinnamon dusted ones? those are my favorite b/c they are not as heavy.

The red dango was flavored with rose extract. I haven't tried making mochi just yet, but stay tuned, that might be next on my list! Cinnamon mochi... sounds delicious! ^_^

There's a small but interesting Asian shop called Eastern Market at the Shuk HaCarmel and there's also "Eden" (Teva Market) which also carries an OK selection of not so usual products, like the japanese tea and the glutinous rice flour and much more.
