Thanks so much! I really appreciate the suggestions. And yeah, it's not going to be anything fantasmical (like my word?) or unbelievable.
And yes, I'm not going to make her a damsel-in-distress or anything stupid like that. Unlike some book characters (hehe) she'll actually have a mind of her own and stuff. I'm sick of the D-I-D in literature too.
