I've been debating this one for a long time but I don't get to choose so I'm losing my sight rapidly. Half the time it's frustrating as hell and the other half I'm listening to music thinking, I couldn't handle loosing this

i agree 110%. my vision hasn't been failing, but it is getting worse and worse (and possibly will fail) from astigmatisms. i just don't think i could handle not being able to hear. it would be a bit too much. :/

I just found out a year ago that I have glaucoma and so we've been watching it and retesting my vision every four months to see how it's progressing. It's extremely agressive right now and so the whole while I've been losing more and more of my vision just so they can tell how fast I'm losing it. They figure at this rate I'll be completely blind in a matter of just a few short years. I'm getting a second opinion on that one because all of my research tells me that's bs.
I guess the fact is that since I don't really have a choice, it's easier but I'd never want to have to make that decision.

i am so so sorry to hear all about that. my dad had the pressure on the optic nerve and had holes drilled into the eye to relieve it. can they do something similar for you? would you like me to ask around and see what i might be able to find for you?

without contacts/glasses i am for the most part blind. i'm on the last prescription that i'll be able to have without bifocals. admitting that i need them at 30 seems strange in a way :/

but seriously, if you'd like me to ask around for you, i'll be more than happy to do so. we have a lot of family friends who are doctors, etc and i don't want you to have to go through something you don't have to!

This is a tough question because not being able to see anymore would be rough and not being able to hear music anymore would be even worse.

I chose hearing mainly because I already have a base knowledge of ASL... but I don't have a base knowledge of walking in the dark.

Hopefully my 20/20 stays with me and my hearing doesn't get any worse. It shouldn't since I don't go to nearly as many concerts as I used to.

i couldn't handle loss of hearing. never being able to hear music again or even the tone to someone's voice would drive me nuts. i could learn to get around without sight, but i couldn't bear never to hear certain things again.

smell would be a hard one for me to give up! think about how tied in to taste it is! you'd never be able to taste anything correctly ever again! :)

Omg! That's soo hard. Your hardest poll to date, in fact!

If I lose my sight than i will not be able to see my friends, family, robbie (hehe), see beautiful things.. And I'm a huge telly addict!

But if I lose my hearing I won't be able to hear music. That's the most important thing. Music gets me through the bad times! And couldn't hear laughter..

Coyurse good things about losing those senses is that I wont be able to see bad things ever again or hear bad stuff.

i agree with both your points! i think vision would be easier for me to lose than hearing. sure i wouldn't be able to see things... but i could hear things. and that is something i don't know if i could do without :)

Easy. You can still drive a car without hearing.

Very true. But, my car is more important to my independance than my stereo.
