Advice wanted

Hello dear lazyweb,

I got rid of my old hi-fi separates because they took up too much room. I was going to shed my vinyl collection as well for much the same reason, but I am reconsidering. Has anyone had any experience of any of these modern compact vinyl players? Recommendations?

Sound quality is a factor, but I am not anal about it.

Cheers!

That looks interesting and cheap enough. Something USB based is a good idea as I have reasonable speakers on the PC already.

As far as Bristol goes, we are still waiting for our seller to get her finger out. For some reason she's delaying things and we don't know why.

agreed - turntables with built in USB are pretty much universally badly reviewed; far better spend the money on a half decent s/h deck, and if necessary a phono preamp - although a DJ mixer, if there's one to hand, of course includes one, or even hunt down a SOundcraft Compact 4/10 mixer - if cheap on ebay, a useful bit of kit indeed.

But yes, largely the more solid the turntable the better; I've no idea if styluses for anything other than DJ cartridges are around these days, you might have to buy a hateful hifi magazine for the adverts...
