i've been really motivated to compose this few weeks. i think i wrote more tunes this month than the first 32 years of my life combined

Hey Hey, what sequencing software are you currently using?
I tried Pro Tools when I had a Mac. Then I use Cakewalk when I switched to Windows. However, Cakewalk is only good if you are making the music into Midi format (that's what I realised... or maybe I didn't go deep enough into the program). Now, I'm using Magix.

i use quite a few:

FL Studio (used to be fruity loops - its really good and professional-level now)

Finale (you do music score and generate the music from there)

Ableton Live 7 (very good for combining clips)

Adobe Audition 3 (good for tracking and mixing more than midi-piano roll style composing)

ok :) i advise u to buy a laptop instead. ur current laptop also quite ok... main thing u need is audio interface preamp supports line in and mic
