Well, the good news is that I've manged to find a co-op job next term: I'll be working at Open Text as a web developer, doing all the various jobs that the regular staff are too busy to do. I know the person who currently has the job, and he seems to enjoy it. Now I just need to find a place to stay this fall when the lease for my current place ( Read more... )

Congrats about the opentext job.
Is the laptop still under warranty, because theres a service center out in kitchener that does IBM warranty repairs.

I bought the laptop used back in Winter '04. I doubt I'd be able to get a warranty repair on it. I'm hoping it's just the cable, since those are only $40 USD or so to replace. If it's the plug itself, I'll have to start look for a place to (hopefully) repair it.

Or worse, if its the connector on the mobo then they normally have to replace the entire mobo.
But yah, best of luck it being the cable :-)

Well, the rest of the computer, including USB port which is right next to the power, seemed to still working even when the plug was, which means any damage to the mobo was at least not catastrophic.
