Average.  Mediocre.  Emotionless.  Disappointing.

More to come.

I'm supposed to see it this weekend. I read the graphic novel a while back and from all the previews, it seems to take images straight out of the pages, so I got excited.

What was your mind set going into the theater?

I was cautiously optimistic. But I can't complain too much...except for the ending, it rather slavishly retains certain aspects of the comic. But overall, the emotional kick wasnt there.

And the soundtrack had awesome music with HORRIBLE cues. Really. It didnt fit in the least.

Saw it last night. Um. Enjoyed it, but agree with Carrie that there some really slooow parts. I found it entertaining for the most part, but I didn't read the comic so I didn't really know what to expect. Oh, like the giant blue penis every five minutes. I knew there was some frontal nudity for the blue guy, but seriously, way too much weiner. I also feel like they gave too much background, and on people I didn't really care too much about. I don't know. I am torn about it. If I had read the comic I am sure I would feel 100% certain about it.

Read the comic. It's really amazing, incredibly layered...every character has a point. They really cut the movie down, and it showed. Some scenes were way too long, with no payoff. They only really got Rorschach, Doc Manhattan, and the Comedian right. Everything else was not only off, but completely void.

Really...read it. It's worth it.

Oh and I also hate Patrick Wilson. There is something about him that makes it hard for me to watch his movies without cringing.

you liked MEET THE SPARTANS jenny...you voided your opinion on all cinema when you said that. WOOT. and the blue penis is from the book, and it was no big deal anyway.

Disagree...what? Besides Rorschach, the film was bland. By the by, did you see the Hayter plea. I love Solid Snake, but come the fuck on. Isnt what they did to the movie the epitome of selling out for commercialization?

Wigga, please.

I mean...I've read watchmen twice, I just watched the motion comic, and I really dont see your big beef. I love watchmen, always have...now granted I didnt have your expectations for the flick and I am pretty easy when it comes to comic books movies (either i dont care or i like it). As an adaptation of the comic, yes it is watered down, but if you expected more then I dont see what you thought the running time would be... The acting was solid, especially patrick wilson (jenny!) and the themes were intact, and the action was well done (even if it was amped up alittle. I very much enjoyed seeing something at the theater that kept my interest, of course I wasnt watching it with the comic in mind at all, i dont care, the comic was, is, always will be better ( ... )

IT WOULD HAVE BEEN BETTER WITH ORLANDO BLOOM!!!!! If Patrick Wilson had been in Meet the Spartans, then we can talk-but since he's not, I see no solidity in his acting ability. God damn, Meet the Spartans was like an epic masterpiece that makes me quiver!!!
