As I once told Garibaldi, the badge and the uniform do have their uses in my line of work. Also, living in comfort among your own kind is only appealing when your own kind does not insist on regulating your life as if you were a prize-winning heifer. I know we've been through this before, Al, but - if you only tried living outside the Corps for a while, you'd see there can be happiness there, too.

Mundanes regulate your life outside the Corps all the time, Caro, and I don't see how playing by their rules, constantly apologizing for what you are, would make anyone happy. I know you weren't, long before the Reeducation Center. And those Tower people you keep mentioning - they're telepaths, aren't they? Can you really say a stiffled life among mundanes could compare to this? You have to give the Corps a chance. The true Corps.

And of course I did. It is for her own good, and it was her choice.
