Currently, I plan to post all entries at both LJ and DW. I've also imported my back-entries over to DW to create a "just in case" archive (I also periodically go through and save things to my hard drive). I have the same username both places ( Read more... )

I think, unfortunately, that if you re-import comments you'll get duplicates of all the comments you've already imported. Of course, I'm one of those rare people who's totally fine with comments being spread over two sites, since, among my friends, it seems that the ones who know each other all congregate around the same site. And there are times when exchanges between friends of mine who don't know each other stress me out, for reasons typical of people communicating on the Internet.

Yeah, I don't think there's any good way to do what I actually want to do, which is have an exact mirror on each site, with content migrated on, say, a weekly basis as a batch job. (I want this because I like the idea of having a nice backup if either site eventually bites the dust.) What'll probably happen in practice is that they'll diverge from this point and I'll keep offline backups of both locally, but I wanted to cover my bases in case I decide to, say, copy and paste threads from one to the other on some kind of weekly/montly/whatever basis.

I don't tend to get enough comments to really have to worry about the conversation being spread around, although that may change if I start posting and participating more often again. I've kind of dropped off of the internet lately because I don't like the way it's changing and I want those kids in jetpacks to quit hovering over my lawn.
