I'm so sorry to hear about your cat Bea (she looks so sweet lying there). I think this is the first time I have actually read about it. I've been so busy with school and work lately I haven't had a lot of time to comment.
But it sounds like she as been through a lot and now you find out she has cancer. At least she is still happy and content and is not suffering in anyway right now. I know that has to be a comfort to you. And unlike humans these animals don't have the burdens of worrying about these things like we do.
So just enjoy her, and spoil her as much as you can. At least you know now that you can't take your time with her for granted.
And unlike humans these animals don't have the burdens of worrying about these things like we do. Thanks for your support. And you're so right. She has a stiff back leg that we're sure was because of a car accident. And her initial frightened nature probably means she had reason to be afraid of humans. But as my mum has often said 'animals live in the present', they don't focus on past trauma. All that counts is that she's happy today. And she's a very happy-go-lucky cat.
And yes I changed my journal style perhaps a couple of months ago. The skulls aren't supposed to be a morbid reminder or anything, I just like the colour! ;P
AAAAWWWW Alison !!!! I'm so sorry for you... and for you poor Bea !!! Animals can take so much place in our life... really !!!!
This poor cat seems to have had a pityful and wild existence before to know you and your family... but she finally found a sweet home, indeed, at the end !!!!
I bet you probably would prefer to be on her side, now... ... as you certainly are more than exciting to be back hope to pet your adorable kitten !!!! ♥
I didn't know this race !!!! Really handsome !!!! (still I don't know if it's the correct term for kitten ! lol !!! but it was the first word that came into my mad mind !!!! XD
( ... )
Thank you for your very kind words about Bea. I can always count on you to reply.
And it would be nice to spend time with my cat but it's not realistic. I'll be home in 5 weeks anyway and then I'll be able to spend as much time with her as she likes.
You can say 'race' but for animals you usually say 'breed'. And I'm not surprised you hadn't heard of Siberian cats because they're rare (except in Russia where they're just common cats!). Our cat will probably be one of only a few Siberians in Ireland.
Geoffrey would be good for a male cat. But she's a girl. ;D And we, like you, thought of naming her after a famous Russian (the breeder is a Russian woman and all her cats have Russian names) - but most famous Russians are men. So it's getting very difficult. It's hard to find the perfect name for such a unique little cat.
You can say 'race' but for animals you usually say 'breed'. Thank you to let me know !!!! I'll try to keep this word in my memory ! ;))
For your kitten's name, why don't you make some searches on a translator site, and type some words you like from English to Russian ?! (like 'sweetie', 'adorable'... or whatever ?) Russian language is so beautiful ! I bet you'll find some great names !!!
Thanks for the suggestion. I think Russian is a beautiful sounding language as well, but we already tried it on a few sites and unfortunately not only does it translate the words but it also writes them in the Russian alphabet! Unless I can find a site that also gives the sound/English spelling of the words!
First big hugs to you and sorry to hear about Bea ... My dog used to have a cancer, but our doc used some procedure, de-vitalization or something.. operative one, and my dog fully recovered. Okay, now Im babbling, sorry :(
And now - how adorable kitties!!! Oh my.. now I feel the need to hug something and not let go :D
You're not babbling! You should see me when I babble! ;P
I'd love to hug them, too! It's so hard having all these photos of a kitten that you can't yet touch. They look so soft! But I'll be able to see a lot of cats when we pick her up so it'll be worth it.
Aw, so sorry to hear about Bea ... but I'm glad to hear she'll spend her last few months in comfort with a loving family around her.
The new kitty is indeed adorable! (Names like "Fwuffy" come to mind, but that's not exactly a clever cat name, is it? I have a hard time picking just the right names for my pets too!)
All sorts of adorable, fluffy names spring to mind, but all seem too conventional and none seem right. My sister has a friend who bought a puppy like us through a breeder and couldn't think of a name. She said that as soon as she saw the puppy naming it was easy. Hopefully the same will happen for us.
Ali - I'm so sorry to hear you are losing your friend Bea. Times like these tear your heart apart.
I can SO relate to your relationships with cats! I've had cats and kitties come in and out of my life for a very long time and in all kinds of ways. They have truly helped to shape my life and who I am - and it sounds the same for you...
That is a most gorgeous kitten - I swear those Siberian kitties faces look Russian!
All I can say is all of your cats are very lucky to have such a loving Mom as you are.
Your post has inspired me to post an article I wrote about my relationship with cats to my LJ. Check it out sometime. Hugs! Renee
Thanks for your support, Renee. It means a lot coming from a fellow cat lover.
The way I go on about cats you'd swear I was a regular cat lady! I've always loved cats but I couldn't have any as a child because of my mother's allergies so we've only had 2 in the past 18 months - both inherited former strays, and clearly quite old because the first is already dead. But we can rest easy knowing that their last few months with us, and the 4 years before that with their previous owners, were happy ones.
That is a most gorgeous kitten - I swear those Siberian kitties faces look Russian! You know what you're kind of right! It's all in the eyes. The Siberian is still a very wild breed - that's why a litter of 6 kittens, which is big by normal cat standards, is very common for Siberians. And why they probably look Russian!

Did you change your journal style?
